(1) yes he said that...then at a later election he put the GST policy on the table and the electorate voted it in. It wasn't done in a sneaky way. GST has been good reform but unfortunately was compromised with democrats so is unnecessarily messy. Even Hawke/Keating had a GST plan but didn't have the guts to put it forward.
(2) yes I think there was a cover up
(3) WMD - I believe Howard believed what the US was telling the UN. Arguably some in the US administration also believed it (Colin Powell is a decent man imo) but maybe GWB/Cheney/Rumsefeld never believed it.
(4) that isn't a lie, it's an opinion
I will add a lie, that some ministers had no knowledge of AWB fiasco.
I don't like Howard personally, I think he is sneaky, I think the same of Rudd who is a chameleon and says what suits the audience equally or more so than Howard. I want Howard to win and then pass the leadership onto Costello who I think is more compassionate. That's an opinion, not a lie.
