Interesting article in AFR today quoting MinRes' Ellison, saying that the cost of producing a carbonate is around $3k per tonne and perhaps the long term value of that product being $13k to $14k/t. That's what we are giving away potentially, he is quoted as saying.
So folks, in the short term, there is a fair amount of sound logic behind the idea that carbonate prices will be far higher than $13k/$14k. I have read they are well over $20K US right now.
Rather than recreate the wheel, Ken has chosen to go with the efficient, smart plan of JV'ing with offshore operators of these sophisticated and fairly expensive plants. Sounds perfectly sensible to me.
The analysts had better start factoring in some very large downstream JV profits!!!!
The forecasts will make today's market cap seem rather conservative!! I cannot help thinking that some further patience is going to pay off in spades
