    Hi Tony

What a pleasant surprise to see u here on the RRS thread…..incredible!

Thanks for way too kind words Alex (a top bloke), cheque is in the mail.
Yes, I am of the female variety, not too many on hc, but perhaps more than we realise – could be anyone behind a nic!

And it’s not just because I’m female that there is a lot to say about Range (lol)…..this stock has had more twists and turns than can be summarised here, it’s worthy of a book or two ~ just to date. Apologies in advance for this long post, just covering some of the basics here.

Firstly, what a forum introduction you’ve had Tony to Range so far……great welcome from Nev, who genuinely is one of the best forum posters I’ve ever read (& another top bloke), & a few of the regular posters (more top blokes), then a sample of the absolute rubbish that has been & is dished out by posters of the likes of pongo, insidemoney, eldersxl etc.
At least 2 of these posters are reincarnations of longstanding Range downrampers…..we’re talking cumulative years of effort in attempting to persuade forum readers that Range is a bad investment.
Not hard to understand why genuine holders are reluctant to post, when they have to contend with the misleading rubbish that a small, but very vocal minority churn out.

I know of no other stock where there is such a sustained effort to mislead people. I also know of no other stock which has as high a potential reward as Range. Some correlation there.

Guess what though......despite all the knocking and negativity, we’re on the launching pad. Africa Oil Corp are just months away from spudding the first two wells in Puntland. And Range and their holders are along for that ride (20% interest).

    Tony, you said:

I have been watching this stock for some time but have stayed out for now. I note the recent comments and the sp today.

In your opinion do you think they are a good buy? If their projects were anywhere else in the world (well most places) they would have a far greater market cap. What is your feel.... I have heard good things from some, rotten things from others.

Wouldn't mind a dab at a few, high risk high return I presume.

    And

I have done no research to date, just been watching with interest to see what they can do given the political risk.

If they can overcome that, who knows what price they could be. IMO this company will be worth something very high or nothing at all. Hisk risk high return.

Your comments are spot on (no surprise there!), with regards to the good/rotten things u have heard about Range.

As u indicated on another (fantastic & informative!) stock thread, your basis for a good investment is that there should high quality of management/assets/board.

Sometimes rules are made to be bent. In the case of Range, I believe, and the seismic and sampling data backs that up, that the assets are potentially world class, whilst the board and management (excluding Sir Sam Jonah) are not IMO outstanding. However……they are the people for the job and the connections and relationships that the board have are of the highest order and that to me, far outweighs the doubts I had about the board.

To illustrate this fact, can u name me one other junior explorer that has on their registry, funds that manage well in excess of US$20billion?

These blue chip holders did not come on board Range for a small return.
    Range is about elephant hunting.

Your other concern is about the sovereign risk, and this is a valid concern, and as you say, Range would be valued a lot higher if their assets were in a less high risky location.
On this question, you need to ask why the large funds bought into the Range story as they have, unless they were reassured of the sovereign risk elements.

The Range Primer (post following) was originally composed by Nev (big thumbs up!!) & has been updated to include recent events (there’s been a few!).
Of course, a lot of the information is contained in official reports etc. But some of it isn’t.

I hope that the html formatting appears ok (otherwise have to repost), and that the primer gives u and others some more food for thought on Range. Particularly regarding the sovereign risk element.

Tony, your timing is perfect…..If ever there was a time to research Range, now, months before drilling, is pretty spot on.

    Cheers
    Marny
