While acknowledging that the % outstanding shorts are very low versus highly shorted shares, I observe that shorting of KGN is increasing each day but the price is at all time highs. Then many afternoons there is a spike up (I suspect the shorts realising they are losing and then cover).
It is a dangerous game with a share hitting new highs, small free float and very likely to announce a huge Xmas.
I think the shorts will want to be out of this name before the holidays really start and liquidity dries up, and risk of something happening during all those long weekends. That should be a booster.
