Lithium is not that common of an element in the universe. I.e. it is a finite resource not just on earth but in the universe.

The transmutation of lithium atoms to helium in 1932 was the first fully man-made nuclear reaction, and lithium deuteride serves as a fusion fuel in staged thermonuclear weapons. (WikiPedia)

Lithium is also used in producing helium of which there seems to be a very limited supply; in fact it’s in critically low. As well as, it’s part of a nuclear power generation.

Lithium it seems has many more uses then most people are aware of.

For example; the cost of helium mining on the moon and bringing it back it would cost around $4Bil per ton.
I wonder what it would cost to make helium using lithium. Perhaps another industry to be born?
