I do not think China wants to kill Lynas. Lowering prices enough to do that would hurt Cinna’s profits. Lynas helps mute some of the complaints in the WTO. Between killing and letting them thrive is a big gap. Also do not think of just Lynas. During the price run up we saw many mines started up. Including GWC Stein and MCP. What China wants is domination of re market place. They will never lower prices low enough to kill Lynas. The question is whether they will allow prices to rise to where Lynas can grow and others may get a start. This is the question. Answer is NO! I think the price rise and fall of 2017 was the Chinese exploring the limits. They will keep prices where Lynas can survive. At its current size Lynas is not much of a threat! I do not think China will let prices rise to where Lynas can grow and others might be able to restart. They do not care about Lynas as an individual they care about keeping total production outside of China down to maintain their control. Only on this board do people think Lynas has all of China’s Attention. China does care deeply about total production outside of China and their own profits Lynas is only one piece of the puzzel. Import part yes, but just a part.
