my very first solar killowatt, page-10

    Banjar says:

GM, not wanting to be pedantic, but the 1713W shown on your meter appeared to be at 195V. If I have got it right, by the time that 195V is converted to 240V as it has to be, then the 1713W becomes 1392W.
Or have I got it wrong?

Of course you want to be pedantic.

But that's OK as lots of
    folk are pedants! (vbg!)

What you overlooked was 1700 watts
can come in two forms - high voltage
and low amperage or low voltage and
    high amperage.

It's the kilowattt amps by so many
    killowatt hours that counts!

The progressive output meter on my
    gizo-box and the input meter
    on my Actew-AGL power board
    both tell me that 3.4
    kilowatt hours were
    'sold' to Actew-AGL
    from fire-up at
    3.00 pm until
    sunset.

My installer told me to phone him
if the 1700 (or whatever figure)
did not keep pace the 1700
    (or whatever) figure on the
    input meter as that means
    something has gone awry!

There is a downside to solar
    power. When linesmen are
    about to mess with live
    overhead wires, they
    normally only have
    to turn off a main
    power switch at
    a sub-station.

BUT that has no effect on solar
    producers who are pumping
    away madly - unaware a
    linesman is about to be
    Zapped! So the linsemen
    need to know where all
    solar producers are
    located and switch
    them off one by
    one before starting work and
    (hopefully) returning one by
    one to switch solar systems
on again when the work is done.

Hence a warning from my installer:

Before phoning him for a warranty
call-out, check the meter box to
see if a linesman forgot to
    turn my system back on
    after fixing a line fault!

Like all new things, there are
    'Traps For Young Players' in
    the solar caper too!
