Never let the facts get in the way of your views. In '96 the little liar said there would "never, ever be a GST". Of course, that wasn't a "core promise" as distinct from a completely deceitful promise. Anything to get a foot in the door, what?
Erratum, for 2000 read 2001. Try to keep your arguments to substance. "Kids Overboard": The lie was intended and had the effect of demonizing people with young children in a desperate flight from a regime so evil that the little liar subsequently committed us to war against it. The effect of that demonization was to gain approval of his immoral treatment and abuse of such desperate people, including their young children by the many Australians who are simple-minded or mean-spirited, like himself. The Liberals perpetuated the lie and silenced those in the Defence Forces (NAVY) who knew it to be a lie and were ordered into silence. The advantage the Liberals and Nationals gained from it was to galvanize and attract the support of all those mean spirited Australians who would otherwise have supported the Pauline Hanson fascists. The little liar's approach contrasts with Winston Churchill's in the Second World War, an occasion of far greater international turmoil, when he said that the treatment of refugees was the measure of a civilization.
"Keep record low interest rates" lie: Howard is vicariously responsible. It was made on behalf of him and his Government and they took no action to correct or retract it. It doesn't even have "plausible deniability".
