stt new years weekend thread 2017/18, page-28

I'll try keep it short, this my second trading new year.
First Year learnt plenty about the mentality in the game, having no ego, don't blow cash on unnecessary materialistic things thinking "youve made it", don't think you're a gift or better than anyone else here, listen and take in everyone's opinions.

This years biggest lessons:
- Sector, being in the right sector is an incredible edge. Fortunately STT is probably one of the best (if not THE best) place on the internet to catch on sector moves before they happen.
- Don't fight the market, first 6months of this year I loaded on things like 4CE in high 2's/3's, ASN all over the place while market was weak. Sold ASN near the bottom for the biggest loss for this year right before it 10bagged lol. 4CE I doubled down on at its lows and got lucky, but wouldve been much more effective if I waited for market to strengthen up.
2016 I didn't watch the XEC once.
2017 I didnt watch the XEC once until May when I began to notice how incredibly helpful it is. Now I keep track of it every two days.
- Ignore director legacy, as long as they are delivering and are in the right place, right time, right sector then back them with your money. Was told countless times to stay away from Brewer, funnily hes made me a tonne...and I think will continue to perform next year. Same case with Tony Sage FEL, CFE.
Tolga has been on another level, but him excluded I think Brewer has been the best performing director this year.
- Pay attention to register and the brokers backing it. CPS, Alto, BW, GTT, Peak, has done well this year.

Top picks for next year:
4CE, VEC, WFE, VKA, NCR, HEG, TAO, S3R (I don't hold this but think it will do excellent)
Medium Term plays (6months - 1Year): HEG, VEC, NCR could end up monsters.
Resource sector is turning up so many opportunities will present itself.
Tech also looks interesting but I haven't found any I really want to back yet, still on the hunt.
