Well yes. God is a purely abstract form being explored by mental constructs alone. People love stories and they form mental images when they listen to stories.

That does not mean that something beyond our comprehension is not in play. That it becomes crystallised into form and substance is a human thing.

Science may be a better tool by which to explore the reality of God (so long as one can clear their mind of the many anthropomorphic images of God) via underlying Cause and the entire universal relationship of existance that clearly transcends natural order, which after all is highly unlikely to be a self-generating force alone, than religion is able to do. Religion tends to be run by men who have power issues, sexual problems and an unnatural attraction to children.

Just because we get so much wrong does not mean that at some level beyond empirical evidence and understanding a Creative force of consciousness does not exist. Even using the scientific method we can establish the basis of Cause.

How we then dress this Cause becomes the stuff of myth and metaphor.
