Shares are "ownership" in a company. As the company grows, if dividends are given that is split between the number of shares. The more shares on issue is akin to having to cut thinner and thinner slivers of a single cake.
Also as YOJ grows and continues its success if the share increases from 35 cents to 1 dollar that implies a much larger market capitalisation then another software company at 35 c with only 150 million shares that grows to a 1 dollar sp... ie the more shares on issue with each 1 percent growth the larger the market cap... this can only go on so much before they are overbought
