$6700 per student isn't a lot. How much is spent on subsidising child care per year? Did you know that Geelong Grammar gets almost $5000 from the government each year per kid?? And that is a low amount for a private school... then they slug their fees on top of this... Did you know many catholic schools get more per student than public schools? $6700 x 25 students (in a class) = $162,500 per year for a class of students. That's not a lot of money. Take out the teacher's wage, a support officer, materials, wage for leadership, school maintenance costs, grounds, subscriptions, etc. etc. it is all gone. We would need to do something similar to what Finland did about years ago to have a dramatic impact on results with their school system. But also the rise in inequality in Australia as a whole is impacting negatively on schools, children coming from homes with not enough money for food, clothing, electricity to run a heater when it's freezing, domestic violence, parents in jail, etc etc. our results are positive considering the change that has occurred in Australia over the past few decades. The rich are getting richer and the rich are in power. While the disadvantaged are more disadvantaged and have little power over the country they live in. Pay based results don't work by the way - look at the data.
