Explaining Blockchain Technologies, page-27

    Thanks everybody for the feedback.

Just to clarify my position in OOK is only small - I bought in early 2016 on the back of Otsanas history with stocks like CR8 - but it was purely an ASX casino spec play for me and I bottom drawed it for all that time. It was quite a coincidence that they took the position in BronTech while completely separately I was pursuing learning about dApps.

My interest in dApps is more on the potential for 3rd world inclusiveness and not so much on FinTech. See for example disallowedlinkblockchainsfightingpoverty/
I also find initiatives that build on the decentralised idea interesting too - like the decentralised news network - https://dnn.media/. Theres so much going on...And yes its built on Ethereum.

Digital identity is an important area as well so happy that BronTech is in that space. I noted the comment in the first post on this thread where someone said that BronTech is 'behind the competition'. Possibly that person was referring to uPort - https://www.uport.me/ - but then I checked and they are building on Ethereum so I dont know what provider that poster means. But I do know that in a world with 7billion people there's plenty of space to play in.

"Another question if I may - why maintain a full node? Is it that you like to be involved?"

I ended up with the full copy because I didn't know any better at the time I installed GETH and fired it up. Nowadays when I start it up it doesn't take to long to sync the outstanding blocks and I guess in some small way I am contributing to the whole decentralised idea.

"On the matter of the Casper upgrade which will partly reduce energy requirements and addressing transaction processing times, do you think this will be enough get them up to a point to enable them to compete with the other more advanced blockchains coming on line such as , Cardano, EOS, NEO and Lisk"

All I know is that Casper will see PoW and PoS co-existing. The final stage of the roadmap as envisaged right now is called "Serenity" lol and will be based solely on PoS. By the way, the first stage was Frontier, the second was Homstead and we are now in Metropolis.

As mentioned previously it looks like Raiden offers the kind of transaction scalability for Ethereum that Lighting does for Bitcoin. By the way "bitcoin" lowercase refers to the currency but "Bitcoin" uppercase refers to the network protocol just to be subtly confusing.

I mentioned a few other areas regarding the roadmap like privacy, storage, consensus mechanisms and formal contract verification. Happy to try and write some posts on those topics if anyone is interested - it actually helps me to try and explain what is very technically dense - Zsnarks anyone?
