Sometimes it's prudent, if the company is legitimate to partake in any placements no matter how small.
I realise we may, but may not,buy cheaper at market, indeed we may because of any number of reasons, waiting for retrace, etc, not buy any further on market.
Well, one may say, it's only of little value. NOW. But what if a major discovery is announced, then this little value becomes big value.
About 12 years ago, I had minimum (500) shares in Pacific Dunlop, entitling me to get discounts on tyres, batteries etc. Amongst other things theyspun off Cochlear, giving pro rata preferences to exiting shareholders at $2(??) ea. Because of the little invovled, I chose not to take up my entitlements.
What price Cochlear Now?
