I am so disillusioned by Work Choices and use of cheap imported labour (now occuring at the rate of almost 1 million people per year) to keep our wages down that for the first time in 24 years I will vote against the Libs, and give my preference (in House of Reps) to Labor. I do not want Labor to also have a majority in the Senate as Libs proved this is a very poor idea.

The last three-four years have been a wasteland for this nation, and in the absence of the minerals boom we would now have a major recession. What happens if the minerals boom ended much sooner than expected?

Libs have failed us massively on education in failing to bring back sanity in our teaching institutions, and the training of workers in technical skills. They have introduced a simple worker replacement program so that local people are kept down.

The extremely high level of worker importation has lead to massive congestion in major cities, and need for more hospitals, schools, high housing costs, poor services etc. Most of the workers imported are only have poor skills, but are used to depress wages. There is simply no end in sight to the gross distortions Libs have introduced.

I never expected to vote for a Labor government again, but Howard has convinced me I must.

Wake up. Libs have proven to be ordinary managers at best. The GST solved nothing. It just gave the States a lot more money to waste and no direct responsibility for all that wastage. The Superannuation changes are far too generous for the middle aged and wealthly, and grossly unfair to young people who have to pay for it. Keating's super scheme should have been extended as its non-distortionary and would assist our national savings.

Good riddance Howard. I expect it will be a long time before we trust Libs again, even if Labor stuffs up badly, which I feel confident they will. I have a lot of respect for Greg Combet, and I hope he plays a central role in a Labor govt.
