Interesting topic. IMO your right about the crowd mentality moving the market. Sure the experts or insiders may start the initial movement in a stock but it is the masses that really move it.
Reminds me of a book I'm reading at the moment: 'Reminiscences of a Stock Operator' for those who haven't read it I highly recommend it. Jesse Livermore arguably the best trader the world has ever seen has some interesting insights into what moves the market.
