If something is written in the Bible even if it's literal or metaphorical, when you read it you then the have to process it in thought and digest its meaning to make sense of it, to understand it.

With the Tower of Babble story if read literally - all of humanity lived around the Tower 2,600 years ago, they all spoke the same language, one assumes they all would have been of one culture, of similar skin colour and the rest of the world was empty of humans. Nobody with an ounce of intelligence can accept this as literal.

That would be pretty easy to prove, but every science known to us tells us that this is impossible. Every culture with the written and oral traditions tells us this is impossible. Every scrap of evidence tells us this is impossible. The extinctions of mega fauna caused by humans all over the world from 50,000 to 20,000 years ago tell us that human dispersant took place many, many tens of thousands of years ago.

Even other Bible stories tell us that there were people in other places before the Tower.

So you tell me, is this a literal story or does it have a symbolic meaning?

The Bible demands that we put aside our egos and seek the truth. Any belief that has no evidence, flies in the face of every known science, defies the history and culture of every race on earth is not faith or belief in Jesus. It is pure pig-headed ignorance and ego, expressed without study, without openminded thought and does nothing but render the Bible and Christianity a refuge for stubborn, ignorant fools.
