    Spain remained relatively neutral during WW2 and Franco was sympathetic to NAZI Germany.

    Initially the Western powers supported Mussolini and Hitler against the USSR. Then Hitler lost the plot. This doesn't change the fact that both Mussolini and Hitler were national socialists.
