Hi Tony
Very good advice to all posters re being careful of what they post on a public forum.
I agree strongly with Pagarsi's comments, except for the initial few where your intent was questioned. I believe u are genuine in your comments and your preparedness to give someone a fair go is great to see. I also think it's very admirable of u to keep posting on hc, as u put yourself in the firing line of diverse opinion - and that is pretty damn impressive!
Just my opinion, and we are all entitled to one...but re the UMC m/ment issues, as has been pointed out, there are serious perception issues with our CEO, and it's not just the fact that the CEO is an ex-stockbroker that's causing great angst to some here, it's the relationship between the CEO and H&P that has caused concern in the past & will continue to provide a major perception problem IMO as long as the CEO holds his position.
It's extraordinary to me that the board of UMC could not forsee the perception issues that have arisen, prior to even considering the CEO's appointment.
In reviewing the posts on the UMC thread, I can't recall one poster who attended the AGM commenting on how well the CEO presented himself. It rings a warning bell to me - how will our CEO present himself to the investing community? Will the Chairman have to fulfil the role of promoting the Company - and in this case, why have a CEO at all, why not combine Chairman/CEO?
Every company needs a great salesperson behind it, no Company sells itself (even UMC with its 2 fantastic projects) - so who will be selling the UMC story? (Still waiting on some...ANY...promotion - but that's another issue!) Wayne Richards & yourself have done a great job for your companies - our CEO apparently could not manage to enthuse his own investors at the AGM. Where is the vision, the strategy? An opportunity was there to display it to a receptive audience - but it wasn't taken. That's concerning.
That's my 2 cents worth, and I can only ponder where the share price would be today if UMC had appointed an experienced mining executive or corporate whiz to lead the charge.
cheers
Marny
