For now that's one of the ways to use it though increasing numbers of people/shops are taking BTC as payment. There was a local guy selling trinkets in the shopping centre with a 'we take bitcoin' sign up. Would bypass those nasty EFTPOS fees for one thing. But so what if people DO convert back into FIAT to buy things, if they have made a profit then good for them.
