I cannot believe how many cars, boats and other machines have those crappy lead acid batteries in them. An equivalent amperage lithium battery is 1/3 the size and weight plus can be orientated in any position. In addition unlike lead acid batteries lithium last 10X longer and hold their discharge better, lead acid tends to bleed down in strength from 12.8V (fully charged) to 12.0V (80% discharged) to 11.8V (flat as a tack) ... where as lithium holds the 12,8V to about 90% discharged before it gives the dreaded click click no balls.

I'm gob-smacked here in Australia that rarely ever do I see lithium alternatives, especially for boats where weight and space really matters. I dare say intelligent and astute manufacturers see this market. No more crappy corrosives, white build up on terminals, acid crap rusting your car. Why isn't say Century/Yuasa factory here making them? Cost? Cost of retooling and lack of expertise to build lithium batteries.

By the time the average western desk jockey analyst (who started shaving last week and invests in Bitcoin) wakes up to the enormous application of lithium battery technology the Chinese I dare say will have it sewn up. Interchange-able tools on battery, lawn mowers, hedge trimmer, whipper snippers etc etc etc .... there's more to this than cars you know.

Imagine swapping out the petrol tank space for battery space. Imagine pissing off that 200L fuel tank in your boat for a battery .... how economical would your fishing be now?

This is the cusp of a new era ..... some will resist it, some will capitalise upon it .... and for the late comers to the game acquiring customers, take off agreements, financing etc the door will be closed or tight. We aint talking about farmer Fred with a moonshine still trying to take over Jim Beam's sales and customers here .... we're talking $1/4 billion mine operations in place.
