In Marble Bar, WA, in late 1923, people sat around a campfire postulating the end of the world as they knew it. They already had over 60 days of temps over 100F (will go on and set a world record of 160 consecutive days over 100F).
"Man", they said collectively, " we have to do something. Musta be them cows belching gas all day and upsetting the gods that control our climate".
"Maybe we just kill all them cows", said one. "But what are we gonna eat and what is baby Zara gonna drink", retorted another!
And so it went, they hired expensive bush scientists who predicted nothing but doom and gloom because mankind had upset the climate gods and fire and fury would rain down on them and lead to a cataclysmic end of the world!!
Fast forward to early 21st century. Nothing much has changed. The "scientists" need their bellies full and the ability to buy waterfront properties, News Media needs to sell papers and attract listeners, do-gooders need money to recycle to "poor" countries, etc etc etc. The only people suffering are the poor and disadvantaged like them poor bu@#ers around the campfire!!
But this too shall pass and then on to the next big thing - maybe prepare for war with aliens??????? Poor ordinary folk!!
