Everything you have said there, is a reasonable response, except for the fact the ABC is a taxpayer funded broadcasting corporation. Not a private one. Therefore it does have an obligation to make sure it is representative of its donor base. It must also comply with its obligations in relation to the charter with which it is charged to uphold.
Im asking the question, in a fair and reasonable way, ........ is jjj, as an 'arm' on the ABC, bound by the charter, to make sure all ABC listeners have a fair and equal ability to cast a vote on a poll it deems necessary, which may impact a large section of its Australian tax paying donor section, of society's, enjoyment of an enshrined national day, which celebrates all things that is great about living in Australia regardless of their political affiliation?
