One thing that really cracks me about this 26th January "Australia Day" kerfuffle is these rwnj carrying on about it being "un-australian" to consider changing the date - in reality the only thing they are doing is displaying there complete ignorance (no surprise there) of the history of the country they purport to love so dearly.

    For the ignorant and uninformed
Australia did not exist until 1 January 1901 - before that it was collection of separate British colonies.

The flag you proudly drape around your shoulders - well it was first flown on the 3rd September 1901.

If any of you actually had any real love for the country you would actively campaigning for one of those dates as the true Australia Day  - please explain why aren't?

I know Jan 1 won't get a run because you'd miss out on a public holiday and clearly that's much more important but surely the date when we got our flag that we fought world wars under - surely that's the date you'd love to celebrate - but yet no - its the day the brits deposited a load of convicts.

PS I do laugh when people go about the flag - remember when that great "lover" of the flag, Tony Abbott, showed he didn't even know its design  - ROFL ROFL ROFL!!!!!!!!

"I'm not in favour of changing the flag, I've got to say," he said, unnecessarily. "Although I have to say that if the Commonwealth star was to be a 7-pointed star rather than a 6-pointed star, that's hardly a massive change. I would say that that is an evolution rather than a revolution."

Poor flag loving Aussie Tony - didn't know the flag introduced in 1901 got changed to a 7 point Commonwealth star by proclamation on the 23 Feb 1908. (yet another date to consider!!!!!)
