You are the one that first raised the 40000+ years so no need to get annoyed because I commented on it. It’s only the indigenous population knockers, technically called racists, who actually try and claim that the ABC and the majority of non racist Australians deny the advances that have occurred to the indigenous population. Of course advances have occurred for everyone including the indigenous population. However, in terms of social justice much of the improvement has been passed on due to the work of indigenous activists and support from the decent sector of the general Australian population.
Generalising about advances resulting from invasion and the associated brutality is likely not that easy to take. Its a bit like the Anglo’s in Britain who were a pretty primitive society and it took a Roman invasion to bring about modernisation of the times along sadly with the subjugation involved. The Brits were not happy notwithstanding the modern superiority brought by the Romans. You might say that the Britain of today was forged by the ingenuity brought by the Roman invasion and also a lot of interbreeding.
Anyway the point is that imo most people recognise life today is far better than around 230years ago when the British brought those poor wretches from Britain in chains and then inflicted death pain and suffering on the indigenous population. The long fight for justice by the early arrivals, the indigenous population and the subsequent migrant population is what has turned Australia into the country it is today.
