Gringott, maybe you need a course in trading psychology?
I attended the 2007 Traders Conference in Perth early this year. Maybe some of you guys attended in your own capitol cities?
One of the main features was a talk by a lady psychologist named Mandi Pour Rafsendjani on the psychology of trading and the effects of "hangups" or negative thoughts. The importance of your psychological condition, approach to trading is very important. If you've had a blue with your partner in the morning, chances are you are "stuffed" for the day. You cant trade effectively with any emotion or negative thoughts in your head. Even the position (read elevation) of your screen can affect your thoughts. Looking down at your monitor is bad & conductive to negative thoughts. She proved this to us.
Think of something sad, or wait until you have depressive thoughts, and then look UP. The feeling will pass. It is not possible to be sad while looking up..........so the higher your monitor, the more positive your train of thought.
No, dont put them on the ceiling and lie on your back. That wont work and you'll fall asleep.

She conducts seminars and even 1-on-1 coaching on trading psychology. No, I havent attended any, but I learnt a lot from the talk she gave at the conference.
I generally fire up the 'puter at about 7.20am, go outside with a large mug of coffee & my ciggies, and purge as much negativity out of my system as possible. If you dont smoke, please dont take this as a suggestion to start. I then sit in front of the 'puter & take in the picture (good or bad) and plan my strategy for the day's trading based on the pre-market changing pictures of buy & sell depths of everything on my watchscreen.
I have found being conscious of your state of mind before making trading decisions as very important.

I received an email from Mandi yesterday promoting her new website she is developing at www.thesupertradercoach.com.au/
I havent checked it out yet, but will.I might even attend one of her classes when I get the chance.Just the 2 talks she gave at the conference changed my outlook, just by alerting me to my own negativity......and making me enforce my own discipline in banning negative thoughts about failed trades or domestic/personal issues before & during trading.
And no, I dont get a commission, lol.
But I hope I have made you think about trading psychology - it works, and I dont claim to have even started cracking its full potential.there are probably others out there, but Mandi is the only dedicated "Trading Psychologist" I know of.

    Cheers
    GZ
