DRAM is the second fastest mode of storage available on your computer, only after the on-board cache(SRAM) integrated on micro-processor die. A modern RAM stick (let's talk about DDR4 at 2133 MHz) is capable of transmitting data at 17064 MB/s or 17 GB/s. The fastest consumer grade SSD that I know of is Samsung 950 Pro; it is capable of about 2500 MB/s or 2.5 GB/s.
The first genration DDR3 RAM was capable of 6.4 GB/s.
