Sundance aims to define a 300 million tonne inferred, JORC-compliant hematite resource at the Mbarga prospect - which is the current backbone of the project but only one of several targets - during the first half of calendar 2008.
While it is aiming for 700 million tonnes of reserves, at least 500 million tonnes of reserves are required for the project to be viable.
Mr Lewis said the legal and fiscal framework for project development was due in March, while the pre-feasibility study infrastructure planning would be complete by the end of this calendar year.
