I've sat here and read poster after poster spruik about how this change - if it happens - will take generations

Let me tell you...I have simply lost track of the hundreds and hundreds of broken and shattered kids I have worked with who are either solvent users, drug dependent, pregnant or uneducated who now represent the broken and irretrievably rooted generation that we can now write off as no better than their parents at addressing their issues.

And that is happening ad nauseum in the generations in these truely toxic communities

Noel Pearson is spot-on when he advocates removing the children from these places and getting them the tools and distance from their truely rooted parents that give them a chance

And nothing...absolutely nothing can be done for them in their far flung communities

They will always have bad health outcomes and atrocious wealth outcomes in those places

And sadly that means the end of the community based lifestyle. For me thats a good thing - aside from some cultural attachments - as a life-style in 2007 it is truley dysfunctional

But to do what the Noel Pearsons advocate smacks of the "stolen generation" approach. Extricate the kids from their rooted environments

Dave et al see that as unacceptable

    Too bad.

Thats where you are going to end up.

Assimilated. but retaining certain characteristics that make you Aboriginal in origin. In exactly the same way as the Greeks, Italians or Irish assimilated but retained some sort of essence of their origin

If it was good enough for them and every other ethnic group everywhere else in the world - its good enough for you lot.

Ya need to get over yourselves!
