Look at the price range for the day. Do you see any trades at 34c or 40c? The answer is no. As Palchum said the open and closing auctions execute at the price where both the bid side and offer side are in balance.
The person who bids the highest gets filled first at matching price regardless of what they bid and lowest seller gets filled first regardless of what they offered.
The risk of really high bids is you are forced to pay whatever the match price is all the way up to your bid, same for really low offers. It has nothing to do with share recycling or collaboration or any other tin foil hate theories you want to throw out.
