The AFR has been writing stories on GSW for the same reason that GSW is the most talked about company on HC - people who are not shareholders are interested. The AFR is in the business of selling subscriptions (and the odd paper) and you don't sell to many of these unless you run stories that interest people. While I don't have a lot of time for the media and journalists in general, I don't think the AFR have done anything wrong here.
