Tanzanian gold prospect extended to depth: Sub-Sahara
Sub Suhara Resources drill site
The latest phase of drilling has been completed at Sub-Sahara Resources’ Mwamazengo Prospect at the company’s Mabale Hills Project in Tanzania Africa, which forms part of its Lake Victoria Joint Venture with Canadian-listed Currie Rose Resources, with all assay results already returned.
According to Sub-Sahara, the drill program, totalling 14 holes for 2,125.5m, was designed to test up and down dip extensions to the known mineralisation at Mwamazengo and was successful in extending the vertical depth of gold mineralisation to over 200m.
Sub-Sahara said some drill holes were also designed to test for a possible northeast and southerly strike extension to the gold mineralisation, however only minor mineralisation was intercepted.
The company said the southern traverse of drill holes was not considered definitive as hole MBNR049 failed to reach depth, due to drill rig failure, and the mineralisation is thought to be plunging in this direction. The current strike extent of known gold mineralisation is 320m.
A geophysical program of Induced Potential/Resistivity is underway at Mabale Hills to help identify new zones for drill testing and to assist with the interpretation of strike extensions to the areas of known gold mineralisation at the Mwamazengo and Dhahabu Prospects.
Sub Sahara Managing Director, Michael Griffiths said: “These results are very encouraging and have extended the known gold mineralisation.”
“Our focus is to find other resources close to Mwamazengo and we have already generated a number of interesting targets that will be developed over the wet season in preparation for drilling next year,” he said.
