It's easy genetics.
Each bovine animals genotype is either-
A1/A1
A1/A2
A2/A2
A simple $500 test will tell you cow/bulls genetic profile..
If you cross an A2/A2 bull with a A1/A1 cow = all offspring are A1/A2
If you cross an A2/A2 bull with a A1/A2 cow= 50% chance of A1/A2 offspring, 50% chance of A2/A2
A2/A2 cows can only produce 100% A2 milk from what I understand.. Happy to be corrected though?
Do the A2 company own any protections stopping a dairy farmer who has all A2 cattle selling his milk is 100% A2?
(not like what Lion Nathan did when A2 took them to court on claiming "contains A2 Protein" (i.e all milk contains both the A1 and A2)
I don't know, but it feels a lot like the economic moat around the characteristic which grants them a competitive advantage could easily be crossed?
