I'm sure that's what they said when GM introduced it's first auto box back in the 40's .
Even those 4spd auto's were expensive to repair when they first came out .
As to 9 and 10 speed autos it appears you guys don't understand how a vehicle works . Those boxes help make cars be way more efficient and make it possible to be powered by smaller engines that can stay in a small rev range or exploit the particuar characteristics of the engine .
Don't believe me . Go and drive a 30 or 40 year old car . A V8 if you like . And compare it to any new car . Slower , harder of fuel , pigs to drive .
