Because they are heavily in debt ... to their shareholders .... over 1 million oz's produced since inception, providing continuous rewards for staff, especially senior staff and board and 3/5 of 5/8 of F all for shareholders. Reminds me of many charities and NGO's where the founders, senior staff, especially the CEO get obscene salaries and lots of tax-deductible travel etc, but the intended beneficiaries of the charity get 3/5 of 5/8 of FA. But then again, we are a country where top 100 companies earn billions $ and pay no tax, year after year .... and Malcolm wants to give them more tax relief .... I digress.
SLR is not in the ASX 200, has no significant institutional support ..... as the prospect of an earnings surprise is dubious .... a dividend seems highly unlikely for the foreseeable future (except in the form of wages and salaries) and share price appreciation seems unpredictable ..... I sure things could get better if SLR obtained official recognition for its NGO work in Kalgoorlie and Perth, supporting the families of its 152 employees etc, and hence, buying SLR shares was fully tax deductible. Maybe that's what Len Eldridge appointment is all about ?? There is light at the end of the tunnel, but being a SLR tunnel, its probably a train.
