"Even better was the celica 5 speed conversion from 20 years ago . Absolutely transformed those cars ."
I looked at doing that over 30 years ago as local rural mechanic recommended it , instead I put in a high rise cam (and other mods port and polish higher compression/shaved head ) , gave far more top end performance but that and a very high first gear made it a dog around town when idling .
It was also the braking that let the pacers down , even though they had discs in front , they would overheat (happened at Bathhurst in the pacer or Charger ) and happened to me once on a long downhill drive -scary .
Wont the car lose value if you swap a Ford motor into a Chrysler ?
Wish I had gone with the celica conversion instead of selling the Pacer for $4k when the gearbox linkages in the 3 speed wore out , would be worth around $70k now .
