Eddie Maguire on MMM the other day said something really interesting...he suggested making all the trams in Melbourne battery operated, so the overhead lines could be removed. What a brilliant idea! It also means that tram lines can be extended, or new ones built with minimal infrastructure. Let's go one further and make all the trains LiIon as well. Not just the electric ones, but the Diesel too. We really are on the cusp of a revolution
