obviously the cafe owner has to cook the chips - so watso asked if he deep fried them - which would be obvious and he nodded.

in the good old days, the fish and chip owner chipped their own potatoes , and apart from the clean sheet of paper that was the first bit of wrapping - the rest would have been 2 or 3 sheets of newspaper.

on talkback radio a few nights ago (could have been a month ago) people were ringing in, to say where the best chip shops were - and who had the best taste.. but seriously, all the chip shops these days, simply buy frozen chips and deep fry them. the cafe owner that watso briefly chatted with, just mentioned that the aldi chips tasted better .

the other day, watso noticed someone with about 20 aldi chickens in his trolley .. obviously the price must have been right.

anyway, watso is thinking that he might buy a 1kg pack of frozen chips - and maybe just heat some up in the benchtop glass convection cooker.

anyway, watso bought a 4 pack (700 grams) of pies for $3 - ie 75c a pie - watso is salivating at the thought of "pie with tomato sauce" .. that will do for tomorrow as watso knocks up another good vegie soup
