Redgarding acid the CleanTeq process with resin requires significant additional sulphufic acid to other HPAL laterite process routes due to the nickel cobalt and scandium require sulphuric acid to strip the metals off the resin. This acid then needs to be neutralised. Other laterite operations do not use sulphuric acid downstream of the autoclave leach.
