" exercising faith" sounds like an addition to justify that you need to "exercise" or work for your salvation, as merly believing is not enough, even though this is the most common translation.
My guess is that this translation would be in a Mormon or Jehovah witness bible, as even though they preach grace they are very strong on works, and have done this sort of thing the past.
