    hi whereu

"Well, OK. wotsup, when it is pointed out that the bible disagrees with you, just ignore those verses.
It's called cherry picking - consider only those verses that agree with you and ignore those that don't.
That is of course possible because the bible contradicts itself."

Of course there are contradiction in the bible. The books are written depending on what the leaders were trying to achieve. As societies evolved then new sets of rules were required. Just one example - look at the writings of Exodus about Jews mixing with Canaanites versus Judges. And because there are so many contradictions, you can always find some thing that backs up your claim. So when you quote some thing out of the old testament for example, people will quote you verses in the new testament that clarify the old testament verse. They don't realise that all they are doing is looking at their back side in a mirror and then say there is the proof.
That is the reason when I discuss religion with my Jewish friends they always laugh at me. "We wrote the book and you want to tell us how to interpret it?"

One thing about wotsup though, he at least argues within the bible itself and how he perceives it. You will notice that other religion posters here will direct you to internet sites.
