Everyone loves to hate this sort of enterprise software, no matter what the vendor is. However the grass is greener with the other company isn't a large effect as the costs of changing vendor are massive, and that provides a sort of moat for the company. For me numbers speak louder than anecdotes, and a 99% retention rate means I'm not worried about retaining clients.
Regarding rewrites of code, one of the things that attracted me to TNE was that they rewrite all their code every 7 years. I'd expect that to speed up as time goes on - as cloud is speeding up lots of IT processes.
