You once were a Boily, now you sit on your arse, so maybe you should drop the ''I'm a Boilermaker'' claim.
Any conditions you now enjoy came off the back of the Rank and File fighting for improvement, as did any perceived power you may have had when you negotiated your agreement of employ. Unless of course, you receive LESS than those on the shop floor. No doubt you probably get Annual and Leave provisions along with a multitude of other benefits. Gettin' any Super? Did you have to ''fight'' for those, or was it just a ''given''?
I once rolled up on a Construction site in SW West Aust where the ''grubs'' had signed a pathetic Agreement due to having no leverage and being stood over, I couldn't get any satisfactory response from local AMWU rep so I rang Doug (then NATIONAL Secretary AMWU) dropped everything and he was there within 24 hours (from Vic). He sorted it fairly pronto, and we got the parity conditions as those at the neighbouring (identical operation) site were receiving. $170 per week increase, and NO WE WON'T work in the rain!!!
And luckily for the 'Employers', Doug did roll up because it was getting nasty and about to get a whole lot more nastier. ''Smacks in the gob'' were coming I can assure you, particularly for those wooses sittin' in their offices and those even contemplating crossing the picket line. My Employer wanted to pay us comparative rate but was cajoled into not doing so by the powers that be. So it escalated.
The Confederation of Industry and the Scabs started it, WE righted it. It was only fair we received what we were entitled to. But my actions still got me blacklisted, which was their next mistake btw.
And then Doug put a broom through the local branch. Doug goes alright. Sure got Michaela to drop her guard and reveal the true bitch she is. Effortlessly too, I must add.
If you wish to disparage any ''Union Hacks'', John Halfpenny was the epitome of a two-faced hypocrite bludger. I got some stories on that POS. Just like the Beaconsfield Bull$hitter, Shorten. Knock yourself out. And don't forget about Hawkey, another user of the Union Movement.
