    debono,

"There is less difference in the forms of rule than you might perhaps think."

there are quite a few differences in the forms of rule that affect our freedom.

"Doesn't mean you have to be bitter with the world .."

have I sounded like a bitter person ? I don't think so. Read carefully what I had posted. I told you I am at ease with the freedom I enjoy. I would say you sounded like you are bitter with the "control and lack of freedom" you say we have.

" however it is best understood if you accept that every form of governence is about control and not freedom."

you are living in a dream world, a bit like your desire to be a benevolent dictator. You are seeing governence as "control" whereas I see it as a necessary evil to preserve the freedom we have. The thing to watch out for though, and that is where a diversity of media outlets is very important for the healthy functioning of a democracy, that we are not being over-governed. Yes, there is an ongoing balancing act required, but so are other parts of our life.

"You will over the course of time come to realize that you have very little freedom and it lessens as you age"

I don't think so, debono. I had lived in other parts of the wrold where the people there had less freedom of choice. I do know the difference. Of course, it is relative. Most things are, by definition, relative. For one to know what is sweet, one needs to have tasted something that is "not sweet". It is via such comparison that one comes to know and appreciate the difference.

You are after a utopia, but alas, I hate to tell you, it does not exist.
