dust, you are copping out and not addressing the issue. As I pointed out BOM who are staffed by qualified scientists, when it comes to forecasting our weather are not including relevant data, and hence are getting it wrong. On the other hand we have another group of scientists, not so well known, who not only discovered the Indian Ocean Dipole, about a decade ago, but have been able to prove the relevance of it to our weather, and have developed computer models that are giving accurate forecasts 6 to 9 months ahead of BOM. BOM by their own criteria actually do not forecast such events such as El Nino/La Nina, but merely confirm it's existence about 3 months after it the relevant conditions have been in place. That form of forecasting is next to useless, it's too late to be of any use. Therefore I believe that the moral of the story, be wary of those experts who know not what they know not, is a valid one, and you have not come back with anything at all to rebut it's validity. Do some research and you will find confirmation of what I have written. But if you rely on the idiot box for your research, as I suspect you do, then you'll be dissappointed because as yet, all the media driven experts you rely on there are not yet up with it. But one day, hopefully they will be.
