I fervently hope (as Australia has done) that America can cleanse itself of its far-right government, stop meddling in foreign lands, and get back to being what I experienced on my trip there when the Democrats ran the show.
America is a tremendously vibrant and interesting place and its women are captivated by an Aussie accent.
This was well before I married Maureen but one happy encounter (with a New York woman) began in a queue in the New Orleans Superdome for an international convention and what led to us (soon after I spoke) to making love in her suite over Bourbon Street (while jazz floated in though the window) was simply my Aussie accent!
We bumped into each other again in New York and she took me to THREE parties in the one night:
A block party, a divorce party and a friend's promotion party - all with fantasitc and lively music.
Plus we took in a few clubs and made love in my room high above East 41st Street.
So I can COMPLETELY understand Kevin Rudd making a fool of himself in New York.
If you don't make a fool of yourself in New York you are telling fibs about being there.
