HE3DA has become a member of the newly established European Battery Alliance. The aim of the alliance is to create the ideal conditions for the emergence of battery manufacturing facilities and to become a competitive continent in the production of batteries to Asia and North America

And the Alliances aims are very clear:
EU Battery Alliance launches Airbus-style consortium to make Europe a force in batteries
Major automotive, chemicals, raw materials, engineering and energy companies are joining forces to overcome the EU£s competitive disadvantage in next-generation battery technologies and build a European battery manufacturing base.
The realisation that batteries are of such strategic importance has come as a wake-up call, with Europe finding itself lagging in commercialising research in the field, and for now, completely dependent on manufacturers outside the EU for battery supplies.

Part of a 20 point action plan of the European Battery Alliance:
'Facilitate the expansion/creation of European sources of raw materials ' including;
Build European alliances between industries from different parts of the value chain and politics to boost mining and intermediate product production in EU
Map geological and urban sources, and potential scenarios considering conflicting interests – and possible actions to take from a European and National perspectives
Define and implement a simplified application process for opening of new mines

There's no way that the EU will allow the largest Lithium resource in Europe to not be part of this!
