Excellent find.
A couple of interesting things that this Native Title Application highlights.
The main points
1) The tenements were regarded as small in comparison to previous tenements that Flinders had applied for.
Therefore they could very well be small strips adjoining the E47/882.
2) It appears that money was the primary dispute why FDL was not prepared to apply the same agreement as its previous tenements. FDL must have known what they were doing to not agree with the inital terms and conditions.
3) The interesting thing is, FDL applied for these tenements before they were initially searching for iron ore according to the Russell report in relation to the E47/882. Perhaps many have underestimated the management of FDL including FMG. Why didn't FMG apply? Maybe FDL beat them to it.
Just a few thoughts to throw into the fishpond.
