i just called AFG.
they said based on their policy of continous disclosure, if they had something negative to report, they would have reported it to the market.
they advised they will not be providing guidence and starting after Xmas they will go into a financial reporting "black out" until the profit results are released in February...
a "black out" means not talking about financial or profit matters to media, brokers, etc,...
they said they have seen the UBS report, which is the same report issued by Bell Potter, who are owned 25% by UBS...
they said 9 brokers cover them with difference views and hopefully some consensus will be reached...
they noted UBS had not changed their NPAT guidance..
overall the tone was quite confident...
they said the fall is due to their nature of a lack of transparency in the current environment and in February they will continue in their efforts to increase the transarency in their reporting...
