Hartley's are persisting with this $100m cutback capex to move 40 million tonnes for Stage 3 of Edna May ...whilst raising the tantalizing prospect that it could be funded with internally generated cash.
So how high - in Stage 3- after moving 40 million tonnes will the wall of the open pit be ? 500 metres??
How complex are the rock mass conditions ? What factors are at work to ensure the stability of the wall?. It's not as if they are mining an OK Tedi with high rainfall and high permeability of the adjacent ground.
And who is conducting the study for this mooted $100m capex? Are they bringing in an outside , independent consultancy ..or winging it on their own?
Someone should ask them a few questions.
